For a student to take Culinary Arts he or she must have successfully complete both Cooking & Nutrition I and Cooking & Nutrition II.
This is a continuation of Cooking and Nutrition I and II and is designed to give students more techniques in food preparation and cooking skills. You will continue to learn more about making healthy food choices and gain more experience and confidence with preparing foods. The cooking labs will give you the opportunity to practice skills and try new techniques in real-life situations.

This is one of the recipes that we use during Culinary Arts. Funfetti Cupcakes are not only fun to make but very delicious!
1/2 cup milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 tsp almond extract
1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1 cup sugar
1/2 tsp salt
2 tsp baking powder
6 tbsp butter, soft
2 tbsp rainbow sprinkles
Preheat oven to 350F. Line a 12-cup muffin tin with paper liners. In a measuring cup, whisk together milk, eggs and extracts. Set aside. In a large combine flour, sugar, salt and baking powder. Stir to combine. Cut in butter until mixture is coarse and sandy. Add milk mixture and beat at medium speed for 1 1/2 minutes. Scrape sides of bowl and continue beating for 20-30 seconds. Stir in sprinkles. Divide batter evenly into prepared tin. Bake for 20-25 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean. Remove from pan and cool completely on a wire cooling rack before frosting.

The final for Culinary Arts will consist of a cooking lab final where you will make Chocolate Chip Cheese Cake as well as a written final.
